CPECC Hami Tower CSP Project progressed well with installation, to be completed in Mid 2019

Enlisted in China CSP Pilot Projects, CPECC Hami 50MW molten salt tower CSP project has been progressed well and the project installation work had been fully started last month in November after the structure of the 180m receiver tower was completed in late October.

ACWA Power’s Noor Energy 1 CSP-PV project in Dubai combines optimized 15-hour CSP storage with demand-focused tariffs and supply chain efficiency to hit the record-low price of $73/MWh. The giant $4.4 billion project sets new records on scale and cost efficiency.

825MW Noor Midelt Phase 1 CSP+PV project to be awarded for two separate contracts

This phase will include two hybrid power plants, combining CSP (solar thermal) and PV (photovoltaic). The project will cover 825 MW (300 MW in CSP and 525 in PV) with storage, for an investment estimated at 2.1 billion dollars (20 billion DH) and an integration rate of more than 35 %. “The award will be for two separate contracts for each of the two Noor Midelt Phase 1 plants.”

Trading in Azelio's share on Nasdaq First North commences today

Azelio AB announces that the trading in the Company’s share on Nasdaq First North commences today under the short name “AZELIO” with ISIN SE0011973940. The proceeds will primarily be used to finance the continued industrialization of the Company’s system of Stirling engine-based concentrated solar power with thermal energy storage that enables electricity production around the clock.

ContourGlobal sells 49% stake of Spainish CSP assets for EUR 134M

ContourGlobal is reportedly selling 49 percent stake of company’s 250 MW Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) plants in South-West Spain, which they bought from Acciona SA in early 2018, to Credit Suisse Energy Infrastructure Partners (CSEIP). The selling price of the shares is to be paid in cash – close to EUR 134 million.

The technological leap at Noor Ouarzazate III

The Noor Ouarzazate III concentrated solar power (CSP) plant, part of the largest solar complex on Earth, is already in service in Ouarzazate, Morocco, and almost ready to enter commercial operation. Noor Ouarzazate III uses a power tower with molten salt storage, and is the biggest operational plant in the world in this configuration.

Largest concentrated solar plant in Africa reducing Morocco's dependency on external power

Morocco currently depends on external sources for 95 percent of its primary energy needs.  In response to this, the country aims is to diversify sources of production and generate value from the potential of renewable energy sources to increase its share of electricity production to 42 percent by 2020. The typical example is the construction of two concentrated solar power plants with parabolic troughs with 3 hour (Noor I), 7 hour (Noor II), and a concentrated solar power plant with tower 7-8 hour (Noor III) storage capacity.

Fraunhofer ISE Develops Solutions for Optimized Water Use in Solar Thermal Power Plants

Particularly in regions lacking water, innovative water saving solutions for cooling and mirror cleaning are needed to significantly reduce the water consumption of solar thermal power plants. In the MinWaterCSP project, the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE worked together with its partners on several approaches to reduce the water consumption in CSP plants.
