TEWER HAS DESIGNED AND DEVELOPED A NEW INTELLIGENT HELIOSTAT
2019.01.10 From: Ricardo Lozano Peña
By means of this new heliostat designed by TEWER, the cost per square meter of the solar field is reduced compared with the current state of the art, both for small or modular plants, as well as for large CSP plants.
It includes a system of integrated sensors in the facet that performs commissioning and calibration in automatic way, which is, today, one of the most expensive processes in the central tower solar plants.
The single-facet system designed by TEWER, together with its facet patent, allows to improve the optical quality of the heliostats existing in the market by more than 60%. This reduces the area required to obtain a production.
In addition, its small size and structural simplicity allow a quick assembly and eliminate the cost associated with the foundation.
On the other hand, the costs of commissioning and calibration, the performance of the automatic function, the sensor integrated in the facet, the acquisition system and the data processing, based in in-house software, allowing corrections along time results in a heliostat of a great "intelligence".
The main objective of the new TEWER heliostat is to increase the competitiveness of solar concentrator central tower technology by reducing the costs of manufacturing, assembly and power supply of solar field heliostats. In addition, the enhanced performance of this technology will allow to increase the energy production of the plants in which it is used.
The heliostat, equipped with a local control specially designed by TEWER, can operate without assistance in any other external device, being able, by itself, undertake the functions of calculation and guidance of its axes.
This heliostat, therefore, includes advances in the state of the art, which supposes a great differentiation with the existing heliostats in the market.
