Indigenously made solar grade parabolic trough mirrors by Indian Thermosol Glass
2019.02.27 From: Thermosol Glass
The Cargo group was incorporated under the dynamic vision and leadership of founder Late Mr Y P Nanda. Since then, the company has grown over the last five decades to become a conglomerate with diverse ventures spanning across automobile, hospitality, manufacturing, logistics, glass processing, renewable energy, and infrastructure. Under “Make-in-India” campaign and only-of-its-kind in India, Cargo Group has set-up Thermosol Glass Pvt. Ltd (TGPL), which is India’ first parabolic mirror manufacturing facility. The factory is located in Kutch, Gujarat and is only 90 Kms from Kandla/ Mundra port of Gujarat. TGPL is a technology oriented company equipped with ultra-modern, renowned European and American machines producing parabolic tempered mirrors (PTM), reflectors, and heat concentrators.
About the Plant
With investment of USD 12 Mn, the plant is equipped with one of the global best facilities comprising the tempering and bending furnace from Glasstech USA, mirroring line from Kloepper, Germany, fully automatic robotic and PLC controlled conveyors from Gudel (Switzerland). A sizable investment is also made to associate a highly modernized indigenous test lab facility involving environmental test chambers from Kohler (Germany), Memmert (Germany), online optical test equipment ISRA (Germany),Offline optical system Q-Dec from CSP Services(Germany), offline latest equipment LAMBDA 1050 UV/Vis/NIR Spectrometer from PerkinElmer, USA. The lab is equipped to test environmental ageing, decay, optical performance and mechanical correctness for solar efficiency. Clubbing all this, makes the plant one of the best facility globally, having 1.1 million sq. m annual production capacity.
The product specifications compete for long-term reliability and performance. The process line is highly precise and standardized sizes assure production repeatability and availability of similar product during Operation and Maintenance period of installed project life cycle. The key features of the product are assured durability coating, lasting 20 years and above; best in class reflectivity,i.e., 94 per cent and above using solar grade low iron glass; highly optically efficient and mechanically correct; dimensionally controlled—made with tempered and heat strengthened glass—making the mirrors safe and up to five times rouged than normal glass mirrors. Putting all the above together, makes the product revolutionary for solar thermal and solar power sector requirements.
Designed specifically for CSP Parabolic Trough systems, Mirrors are available in standard RP2 and RP-3 configurations. Also, as per the requirement of the customers, our manufacturing plant produces both the Monolithic Mirrors and Laminated Mirrors. The plant can cater to various size and specifications of heliostat mirrors which are deployed in Solar Power Tower technology.
These solar grade mirrors will be the turnaround milestone for solar, such as power generation, water and waste water management, brine and seawater desalination, steam augmentation and steam enhancement cycles, enhanced oil recovery (EOR) application.
To introduce in details on the solar grade mirrors to potential Chinese and global customers and partners, Thermosol Glass will all be attending 9th Annual CSP Focus China 2019 Mar.21-22 Beijing conference & expo, the most powerful event for global solar thermal power industry in China, as an exhibitor, you will be much welcome to visit the booth on site.
Thermosol Glass (http://www.thermosolglass.com/), owing its inception to one of India’s leading glass processing companies, has set up India’s first fully automated solar parabolic mirror processing plant under “Make in India” campaign at Kutch, Gujarat. The plant produces high quality mirrors to be used in Solar Thermal Power Projects across the globe. It has state of the art manufacturing facility with ISO 9001:2008 certification and equipment procured from the best manufacturers globally. The product is internationally certified for its quality. The production capacity is in the range of 1.11 million m2 of solar parabolic mirrors per annum.
