June 27th 9:00am, Morocco time, CSP Focus MENA 2018 was officially kicked off in Marrakech. Nearly two hundred CSP industry leaders and guests from MENA, Europe, USA, China and other regions joined such a great gathering.

Rich in solar resource, MENA is one of the world's leading solar power markets, and owns the “biggest” and “tallest” CSP projects. NOOR Ouarzazate in Morocco is one of those CSP star plants, and happily some of the delegates paid a visit to the project one day earlier before the conference. Another typical CSP project is world largest Dubai Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum (MBR) Solar Park Phase Four 700MW CSP project, which was developed by ACWA Power and EPC contracted with Shanghai Electric. Other CSP projects in MENA like Morocco NOOR Midelt CSP+PV project, Kuwait Shagaya 50MW parabolic trough CSP plant…All of those hot CSP projects have been under detailed discussions during the CSP Focus MENA conference, and some of the project participants are seeking for potential parterners.

Some of the government and developers & EPCs who shared on the conference are from MASEN, MESIA , ACWA Power, Supcon Solar China, TSK Flagsol, EDF Energies Nouvelles, ACS Cobra, BrightSource Energy…

And two interesting topics on “Solar Hybrid” and “Local Value Chain in MENA” are group discussed by CSP experts during the two days.

Two day conference and one day NOOR CSP Tour have been held quite successfully this week. As one of the emerging CSP markets, MENA is expected to contribute a lot in global CSP development.
