Project Overview |
Yumen Xinneng 50MW molten salt tower CSP plant was officially selected as one of China 1st batch of CSP pilot projects in September 2016. With total investment of RMB 1.78 billion, the project is expected to be completed in 2 years. The project is located in Zhengjiashawo CSP Park, 15km far from new downtown of Yumen city, Gansu Province. The 50MW project takes beam-down CSP technology with 15 mirror field modules, and one 9-hour molten salt thermal storage system & steam turbine set. The annual generating capacity is under load of 4328 hours.
The project broke ground in June 2017, and 3 of the 15 modules are expected to be connected to the gird by the end of September, 2019. It will be the first large-scale commercial CSP plant in the world taking innovative beam-down molten salt tower CSP technology.
As recognized by CSP industry players, the Direct Normal Irradiance (DNI) should be above 1,700kW.h/㎡, and the DNI in Yumen is around 1,901 kW.h/㎡, indicating that Yumen is rich in solar resources and a great place for building CSP plants.
