PANEL DISCUSSIONS ON HOT ISSUES

Panel Discussion- Hybrid Solar Plants

Moderator: Gurmeet Kaur

CSP combined with PV: Both Solar PV and CSP has been reaching a world record low

bidding price during last year, but cost of CSP still stands at a higher level. In order to

make full use of solar energy, combination of Solar PV+ CSP has been proposed as a

new solution for continuous power supply during 24 hours. In this panel, industry

experts will express their ideas regarding this hot issues, helping you get a clear glimpse

on CSP's best utilization.

  • Why solar PV+CSP is becoming a proper solution to provide continuous energy supply?

  • What advantages and challenges for this combined hybrid solar plant? Compare to

CSP+Gas/Oil plant, what are the similarities and differences? Will PV+CSP plants replace

the other ISCC plants in future energy system to provide dispatchable power?

  • How to combine CSP with other renewables based on current references?

Panel Discussion- Develop Local CSP Value Chain in MENA Countries

Moderator: Christian Barba

Local content ratio tends to be treated as a key factor for improving local economic

development and job creations, as well as a boost factor for reducing lcoe. morocco

performed well upon improving local content during development of Noor complex.

Other regions in MENA also have ambitions in promoting local value chain through

renewable energy targets. What experience could be learnt from well-developed

markets? How Chinese involvements help local players to build own value chain?

What are the current situations and potential in MENA countries? In this panel,

developers, EPCs and manufacturers will discuss the issues to let you know sustainable

development of CSP in MENA market.

  • Moroccan concentrated solar power plant hailed as shining example

Efforts by the North African country to tap into the potential offered by renewable energy should be replicated at EU level, according to the head of a successful Moroccan energy agency. So successful has the country been in meeting its electricity needs that it has easily exceeded it’s planned 35 per cent renewable energy target and has now set itself a new target of 52 per cent by the year 2030.

  • Concentrating Solar Power costs are expected to fall by 79% by 2022

CSP costs have already plummeted by 47% compared to 2010. It is likely that costs will continue their downward trajectory thanks to economies of scale, deployment in locations with better solar resources and lower costs of capital, according to a study by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA)TheInternational Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) conducted a study on theevolution of the level
