  • Innovation shaping the future of solar power

Today, the most common method of harvesting solar energy is photovoltaic solar (PV), which uses solar cells to convert sunlight directly into electrical power. A CSP tower on the other hand, uses mirrors and lenses to concentrate sunlight towards a solar receiver, which is then used to generate and store high-temperature heat through a heat transfer fluid. This heat can then be used immediately ei

  • Spain Confrims 200MW CSP Auction in April 2022

In the initial 2 renewable energy auction rounds under REER, Spain has so far awarded 2.902 GW of solar PV and 3.256 GW of wind energy capacity. On April 6, 2022, it plans to hold the 3rd auction to award 500 MW capacity. The Spanish Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO) has announced April 6, 2022 as the day when it plans to hold the country’s 3rd renewabl

  • 1.3GW CSP Projects Planned to Start in 2022

A new wave of CSP development, and GW of CSP projects, will emerge in China and the rest of world after the staggering year of 2021. As was declared clearly in “Action Plan for Carbon Dioxide Peaking Before 2030”, an official statement released by the State Council of China, “…to promote CSP development actively, and establish Renewable Energy Composite Complex integrating CSP, PV and Wind…”

  • Rediscovering Concentrated Solar Power: story from China

Start of new series of articles with new data on CSP power plant. Recentlysome media, such as Energyskeptic, falsely accused CSP technology of being unreliable, full of glitches and having a low energy return. Theiropinion refers to certain early development faults of the technology, mainly based on the US experience, where new CSP stations have not been built since 2015. Indeed, all power product
